Ruth Barnes
Ruth Barnes is co-founder of Sonoloom. Previously she was Creative Director at Chalk + Blade, working across all genres: true crime, comedy, news, branded and scripted. Over 10 years C+B has worked with global institutions (The Wellcome Trust/ UNICEF), major news outlets (Global/ BBC), American networks (Pushkin Industries/ Topic Studios) and international brands (Vogue/ Net-a-Porter).
Before visualisation became synonymous with podcasting, C+B led on BBC Sounds entertainment podcasts strategy with the always-on TV companion podcast series Obsessed With, as a visualised podcast launching BBC3 when it was reestablished as a linear channel.
C+B is known for its headline making investigative series - Hunting Ghislaine (Global), Was There Ever A Crime? The Trials of Lucy Letby(Indie)andCharlene Somebody Knows Something (Daily Mail), which all made national news. In 2025 C+B produced its first investigative series for iHeart Media, in collaboration with Clockwork Films, Crying Wolf.
Most recently C+B branched into kids, collaborating with BBC Studios on The Hey Duggee Pupcast, a universe expanding scripted series.

Jason Phipps
Jason Phipps is co-founder of Sonoloom. Previously he was Head of Content and Development at Chalk + Blade, developing, writing and exec producing across narrative investigations and children's content for C+B. He is the ‘OG’ of podcasting in the UK, working in this emerging medium since 2006.
He is a Radio Academy gold winning podcast producer. Jason was head of audio at The Guardian, leading that team across news, science, sport and culture content - he went from there to be the first BBC commissioning editor for podcasts ahead of the launch of BBC Sounds app in 2018.
Jason has developed and green-lit major podcasts in comedy and journalism, from James Acaster’s Perfect Sounds to Jamie Bartlett on his global hit The Missing Cryptoqueen (he was the original commissioner on Wondery’s global hit Kill List which moved out of the BBC after his departure). He has been the creative lead on shows with major US impact winning a Peabody Award with Have You Heard George’s Podcast? and an Ambie award for the BBC Panorama/PBS Frontline investigation I’m Not A Monster with Josh Baker.
